On your marks, get set, GO to the Greenway!
Discover the Greenway: Saturday 25 July, 12noon- 4pm, five minutes from Pudding Mill Lane DLR station
Bushcraft, animal olympics, an art obstacle course, architecture talks,
nature walks and historic tours are just some of the activities on
offer for families to discover the story of the Greenway on Saturday 25
July from 12noon to 4pm.
The fun, free event comes with great views of the Olympic Park, which
can be seen up close from the new ‘View Tube’, an exciting new building
offering visitors the chance to watch the development of the Olympic
site.
The event is part of the London 2012 Open Weekend taking place across
the country, and of ‘Discovering Places’, one of the Major Projects of
the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad led by Heritage Link, in partnership
with Natural England and CABE.
Ian Lush, Project Director, Discovering Places said:
“‘Discover the Greenway’ is a fun afternoon for families in East London
to discover and celebrate the historic, contemporary and natural
environment of the Greenway. It is a great example of the type of
event which will be part of ‘Discovering Places’ over the next three
years, up to and including Games time in 2012, and the Greenway itself
is a wonderful location to get people involved with their local
environment and learn something new.
We look forward to welcoming as many people as possible to the Greenway
on 25 July - kids will love it. Come along and bring a picnic!”
