Design Review
On the 1st February 2007, architecture centres from across the UK met in Nottingham for a national workshop on design review.

Twenty participants from ten architecture centres plus a member of CABE's design review panel team took part in the workshop, which was structured to facilitate the identification of the key issues for architecture centres and identify an action plan which built on the shared values within the Network [more].
Building Schools Conference
On 20th February Catherine Williamson, Head of Education, Architecture Centre Network presented at the National Building Schools Exhibition and Conference 2007 in Harrogate. The workshop explored the work by architecture centres in relation to the Building Schools of the Future programme, in particular the Standard Pre Brief DQI Package being developed in collaboration with Opun and Kent Architecture Centres, and Partnership for Schools [more].
Architecture Week 2007

Now in its 11th year, the main theme for Architecture Week 2007 from the 15-24 June 2007 is How Green is Our Space. Architecture Week is the annual national celebration of contemporary architecture and is organised by the Arts Council England, Royal Institute of British Architects and Architecture Centre Network [more].

Public Arts - beam
Regional arts and architecture centre Public Arts has been reborn under a new name after 20 successful years.

At the celebration event on January 30th, leading UK designer, Wayne Hemingway announced the new name as beam. Also announced was Wakefield Council’s pledge of £250k towards the company’s proposed new £3.5m extension, designed by SMC Alsop [more].
New London Architecture
On the 27th March PLACE #4 will be the latest in a series of workshop seminars with NLA for everyone with an interest in the design, development and planning of London. Join NLA and an expert panel to discuss and debate the key issues around the eastward expansion of the city from Aldgate [more].
Opun
Opun, the architecture centre for the East Midlands is delivering a Housing and Sustainability Seminar for local authority design champions on the 29th March 2007. This networking event is an opportunity for design champions, planning officers and regeneration practitioners to come together and discuss the key issues [more].
PLACE
Entitled Linking the Built and Natural Environment, PLACE's new lecture series will feature renowned experts discussing innovative approaches and solutions to integrating development and biodiversity [more].
The Architecture Centre, Bristol
The current exhibition Greenprint: Design for Sustainable Living is a fascinating snapshot of the state of sustainable housing today. It marks the launch of Spring Green - The Architecture Centre’s spring sustainability season, which includes a number of workshops, talks and site tours [more].
Fundamental
Bridging the Gap is the first Olympics architecture and built environment education programme which has received funding from the London Borough of Newham.

The programme aims to help children and young people understand the scale of change brought about by hosting this major sporting event and to promote ownership of the developments. Bridging the Gap will work with nine schools in Newham during the pilot phase [more].
Solent Centre for Architecture + Design
The winner of an architectural competition to produce the concept design for a treehouse study centre was recently announced by the Solent Architecture Centre.
Open to all final year undergraduate students attending architecture schools in the South East Region, the winning scheme was from Oxford Brookes University [more].
Architecture Foundation
Now in their 29th year, the D&AD Global Student Awards are intended to highlight the best emerging talent around the world and promote it to the creative industries globally. The Architecture Foundation has collaborated with D&AD to challenge students to design an installation for their new building - closing date for entries is 23rd March 2007 [more].

/RIBA An exhibition of revolutionary proposals for the development of our cities opens this week at the RIBA, London. Visualisations of the 21st Century City results from a collaboration between UK architecture students and Building Futures, the RIBA’s ‘think tank’ examining such questions as: What will our cities look like in the future? How will places such as London or Hull deal with flooding? [more].

CABE
The Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE) has launched a step by step guide to good design of public space. The It's Our Space guide and Spaceshaper toolkit are intended to inspire local communities to demand high standards of design and to help people evaluate the quality of a public space [link].
Arts Council England
Arts Council England is sponsoring a debate session at the 4x4 Making Places urban regeneration forum in Leeds, where the theme of Connections will cover change, communities, creativity and climate. The Arts Council-sponsored session ‘Culturing Creativity’ will take place at 6pm on 14 March at Leeds College of Music [link]. BURA
For those of us either not invited or unable to attend MIPIM this year, the British Urban Regeneration Association (BURA) has created N.I.C.E. (Not In Cannes Event), an opportunity to catch up with peers, meet new faces, exchange contacts and ideas - 15th March, London [link].

Cité de l'architecture et du patrimoine
The new architecture centre for Paris situated in the stunning Palais du Trocadéro opens with a series of major exhibitions from 21st March [link].
MFA
The current exhibition at the Museum of Finnish Architecture examines both the similarities and differences of the most northernmost cities in Sweden, Finland and Norway. In these extreme climates, how are these cities planned and built? And what of their future? [link]. AFSF
The Architecture Foundation of San Francisco has a comprehensive education outreach programme involving elementary and secondary students in a mentored appreciation of architecture, engineering, construction and the design process [link].
