Architecton had a chance to improve one residential structure in Middle Park in Melbourne, Australia. In this project, the architects needed to build an addition to this contemporary-Victorian home. The results were breathtaking, for this house now has the most reputable architecture in the neighbourhood.
According to the architects, the rear addition features the use of stone, concrete, and metal altogether. They used the natural stone and concrete as the flooring of the patio and pool area. On the other hand, they used metal to adorn the exterior facades of the structure that cantilevers the patio. Stone, concrete, and metal are all durable building materials and can last a lifetime if maintained properly.
In addition, this modern backyard design reflects the busy, urban life in Melbourne. Its modernity fits well with the surroundings.
Inside, the house has an open floor plan format. The large kitchen and the living room shares the ground floor. Its highlight is the use of marble tiles with Calacatta or large patterns and designs. Designers used it for the kitchen island and the TV console.
